What does the tour include?

The tour includes transportation to a mix of local craft beverage outlets and/or historic sites, depending on the tour you have reserved. Samples are included at each of the craft beverage outlets as well as water and light snacks in the van. We handle all reservations and tasting charges at wineries/breweries so you can just show up and enjoy. While this is a tour to breweries/wineries, you are not required to drink alcohol.

How long is the tour?

Tours range from 4-11 hours in length depending on the options selected.

Where does the tour start?

Pre-planned tours generally start at the King Street Metro Station or the Franconia/Springfield Metro Station, easily accessible via the blue or yellow line metro. Privately contracted tours can begin at a predetermined location set by the tour contact.

Can I bring my kids?

Only if they're over 21! Sorry, but winery/brewery tours are 21+ years of age.

Please contact us regarding other types of tours which may be appropriate for children.

Can I drink alcohol in the van?

Alcohol consumption is not permitted in the van. Please do not bring any outside alcohol with you on the trip, other than bottles purchased from the locations included in the tour. Bringing outside alcohol to any of the destinations may cause you to be ejected from the premises and the tour. Virginia ABC has strict guidelines for the wineries, breweries and distilleries related to off-premise alcohol and they are protective of their licenses.

Are the tours wheelchair accesible?

At this time the van does not support wheelchair access, and therefore we cannot accomodate guests with wheelchairs.

What is the cancellation policy?

Tickets are non-refundable 3 days prior to the tour. Any cancellations made:

  • less than 72 hours before the tour: No refunds, however you may transfer your ticket to another person,contact us.
  • between 3 and 7 days prior to the tour: 50% refund. Ticket transfer is available.
  • more than 7 days before the tours are fully refundable.

Is there a sick/behavior policy?

Yes! While this is a tour that may include wineries, breweries, and distilleries, all guests are expected to know their limit. If you become intoxicated to a point where you are disruptive to other participants or patrons at the establishments you will be ejected from the tour with NO refund. If you get sick in the van or otherwise leave the van in a condition that requires professional cleaning, a cleanup fee of $275 will be charged to the card on file. Do not pre-game the tour. The operator reserves the right to deny service to any person who appears intoxicated.

Is there a minimum number of participants required?

For "public" pre-planned tours there is generally a required minimum of six guests to operate. Contact us if the tour minimum is not met we may be able to accomodate you.

If you are taking part in a custom planned tour there is no minimum, just a maximum of 10-13 guests.

Is tipping allowed?

Of course! Tipping is always welcome if you've enjoyed your trip, however it is not required.

Can I just show up for a tour?

Currently tours must be purchased and confirmed through the website at least 12 hours prior to the tours departure. There is no provision for same day purchases.

Are you licensed and insured?

We are! Did you know that to transport passengers legally within Virginia a company must possess a certificate of authority from the Virginia DMV? If you are traveling between states, they must possess operating authority from the US DOT and comply Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administation regulations. These requirements ensure that the drivers and operators are fully in compliance with the required liability insurance, as well as driver & vehicle safety requirements. The Getaway Driver holds VA DMV certificates of operating authority for sightseeing (SS91) and contract passenger services (PC1799). We also hold US DOT #3192875 for interstate passenger transportation.

Return and Refund Policy

Thank you for shopping at Sophisticate Supply by The Getaway Driver operated by The Getaway Driver LLC.

If, for any reason, you are not completely satisfied with a purchase we invite you to review our policy on refunds and returns.

The following terms are applicable for any products that you purchase from Sophisticate Supply by The Getaway Driver. We will reimburse you no later than 14 days from the day on which we receive the returned goods. We will use the same means of payment as you used for the order.

Conditions for Returns

In order for the goods to be eligible for a return, please make sure that:

  • The goods were received in the last 14 days
  • The goods are in the original packaging
  • The goods are unused and in the same condition as when received

The following goods cannot be returned:

  • The supply of goods made to your specifications or clearly personalized.
  • The supply of goods which are not suitable for return due to health protection or hygiene reason.
  • The supply of goods which are, after delivery, according to their nature, inseparably mixed with other items.

We reserve the right to refuse returns of any merchandise that does not meet the above return conditions in our sole discretion.

Returning Goods

You are responsible for the cost and risk of returning the goods to us. We cannot be held responsible for goods damaged or lost in return shipment. Therefore, we recommend an insured and trackable mail service. We are unable to issue a refund without actual receipt of the goods or proof of received return delivery.

You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of the original shipping (if applicable) will be deducted from your refund.


If the goods were marked as a gift when purchased and then shipped directly to you, you'll receive a gift credit for the value of your return. Once the returned product is received, a gift certificate will be mailed to You.

If the goods weren't marked as a gift when purchased, or the gift giver had the order shipped to themselves to give it to you later, we will send the refund to the gift giver.
